About Morris Legum
He was a most kind and generous man.
One of the founders of Congregation Kneseth Israel in 1906, Grandpa was a mainstay in the Annapolis Jewish Community as well as the City of Annapolis itself. Coming to this country as a teenager in the early 1890s he set about establishing himself, raising a family, and bringing over his brothers, sisters, and his mother.
Grandpa knew his share of tragedies. He lost a daughter Sarah in 1912, his loving wife, Goldie, in 1934, followed by his son Jake in 1935, then his daughter Jeanne in 1943. Then ten years later he lost another son, Mooney.
In spite of these and other losses he suffered, he was always able to pick himself up and get back on his feet.
He was loved and respected throughout the Annapolis community.
