Military Service: He served in the military during war time Feb 1776 in Kent, Litchfield, CT. Moses died, probably of smallpox, while serving in the Revolutionary War as an "orderly Seargent", possibly in Aug 1776. Death: Hudson Valley near or at Fort Miller Aug 14 1776 Hudson Valley, Ft. Collins, Washington, New York, USA

On 4 July 1836, Congress passed an act granting a pension to the survivors of Revolutionary War veterans. Abia (Stuartevant) (Cass) Judd applied for this pension and had to give the following testimony (apparently annually) to qualify for the pension: "State of Connecticut Litchfield County ss at Kent On this 20th day of February 1838 personally appeared before the court of Probate of the District of Kent Abia Judd, widow of Joseph Judd and widow of Moses Cass Junior, a resident of Kent in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, aged eighty eight years. Who being first and duly sworn according to law doth on her aoth make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 4th 1836. That she is the widow of Moses Cass Junior and resided in Kent in the County of Litchfield and State of Connecticut. That he enlisted and entered into the service of the United States in the Revolutionary army about the month of February in the year 1776. That the time he enlisted for was one year. He enlisted under Captain Ira Swift in Colonel Burralls regiment and served for the whole time as a sergeant. That he went to reinforce the army in Canada and retreated with the army back. That it is to the best of her recollection and belief that she was married to Moses Cass Junior about nine years before he entered into the service of the United States and believes that is was on or about the 3rd day of February. That he died at Fort Collins on the Bank of the Hudson River in the month of August or September of 1776. That she remained a widow about fifteen years when she was married to Joseph Judd of said Kent, who died on the 21st day of August 1825, ever since which time she has remained a widow.
