About Rabbi Moses (Moises) Knöpfelmacher

Rabbi Moses Knöpflmacher was the son of Rabbi Joachim (Chaim) Knöpflmacher (b. c.1672) of Leipnik, and the grandson of Rabbi Judel (Yudel) Knöpflmacher (b. c.1645), also of Leipnik. Moses Knöpflmacher lived for many years in his native Leipnik, where he served as Chief Rabbi. However, in the late 1780s, he moved south to the ancient Jewish community of Holesov, where he also served as rabbi. He resided in household #23 in Holesov's Jewish quarter.

On 18 June 1794, Moses and his second wife, Rebeka, conveyed their interest in household #35 to Moses' son-in-law, Aaron Tauber (1747-1815) [husband of Schewe (Knopflmacher)]. In this document, Moses is identified in three different ways -- as "Moises Knöpflmacher", as "Moises ben Joachim", and as "Moises ben Joachim Leipniker" [meaning he was from Leipnik]. A subsequent document indicates that Aaron Tauber was the "son-in-law of Rabbi M.L." [Moses Leipniker, also known as Moses Knopfelmacher].

In the Knöpflmacher Family Stammbaum, Moses is frequently referred to as "our teacher, Rabbi Moshe Leipnik". (http://alfredhanscom.tripod.com/knopfelmacher.pdf)
