About Moses Samuel Landauer
The textile firm M. S. Landauer was founded by Moses Landauer in 1833, and was originally run out of the basement of his ancestral home, but eventually employed several hand weavers. In 1847 Landauer made his first venture into mechanical weaving in Neuburg an der Kammel, and in 1857 he built a factory in Hürben bei Krumbach. Landauer retired in 1874 and passed on leadership of the firm to his sons, who oversaw the expansion of the business including the expansion into a larger factory in Oberhausen bei Augsburg. The business remained in the family until 1938, when it was taken over during the Aryanization by the firm C. F. Ploucquet
