About Moses Ruslander
Moses Ruslander's US Citizenship Certificate, filed in the Superior Court of Buffalo, NY on Oct 28, 1876, states he arrived in the US in 1866. He wrote on the back of his certificate that ...(he) was born in Spittule, Poland on Sept 27, 1849. Arrived in the US at 17 years of age. Former allegiance, Czar of Russia.
He was educated as a Rabbi. He once owned a clothing store. He liked reading classics & the works of Plato. He was a good swimmer and enjoyed penny ante (poker). He was one of the first supporters of the late Rabbi Isaac Wise, in founding the Hebrew Union College at Cincinnate, Ohio. He celebrated his Golden Wedding, July 9, 1928." (info obtained from The Life & Times of S. Leo Ruslander). Son of Sholom & Zepora (nee Zubrynski). Husband of Phoebe (nee Katz). Father of S. Leo and Fred Ruslander.
