About Motte Campbell McGhee Calhoun
Dr Ephraim Ramsay Calhoun married Charlotte Matilda Moseley on January 17, 1826 in Greenwood.
Their 2nd child was: Motte Campbell McGehee Calhoun and he married Sarah Elizabeth Goodwyn on September 16, 1856 in Lowndes, Alabama. They would have 3 children.

The 1st child of Motte Campbell Calhoun and Sarah Elizabeth Calhoun was William Goodwyn Calhoun Sr, he was born in Talladega Alabama in 1858.
His obituary of 1933, printed in the Index-Journal (Greenwood, SC) Sunday, 17 Dec 1933 says the following:
"His father, Motte Campbell McGehee Calhoun removed to Alabama as a young man in the early fifties and was married to Miss Goodwyn in 1856 in Downs County, Alabama.
When the war began young Calhoun volunteered in an Alabama Regiment and was promoted to Lieutenant and saw service in some of the most important battles of he war. He was twice wounded in the beginning of the war and was severely wounded at the Battle of Sharpsburg.
From the effects of this wound, he died in September 1866 in Harpersville, Alabama leaving a widow and three little children. William Goodwyn aged 8, the late Roland R Calhoun and the late Mrs J Thomas Duckett (Gussie) all of whom subsequently made their home in Greenwood with their grandfather, the late Dr Ephraim Ramsey Calhoun and one of Greenwood's first and most public spirited citizens. "

The 2nd child of Motte Campbell Calhoun and Sarah Elizabeth Calhoun was Dr Rowland Calhoun.
His obituary of Sept 1933, printed in the Index-Journal (Greenwood, SC) Friday, 8 Sept 1933 says the following:
"Dr Rowland Rugely Calhoun was born November 19, 1861, the son of Mott Campbell Calhoun and Sallie E Goodwyn Calhoun, of Greenwood. His father was killed in the Battle of Sharpsburg and his mother died a short time later, leaving 3 orphan children"

According to Civil War Records, Lieutenant Motte C Calhoun enlisted in 1861 in Montevallo, Alabama and was in Company K, Alabama Infantry Regiment.
Sarah and Motte had 3 children:
1 - William Goodwyn Calhoun Sr (b in 1858 in Alabama
2 - Rowland Rudgely Calhoun (b in 1861)
3 - Augusta "Gussie" Calhoun Duckett (b in 1865)
