Mourning Mayo Floyd died after September 3, 1850 in Butts County, Georgia; she appeared on the federal census taken that day as age 84, along with her husband John Floyd, also 84, both were born about 1766 in Virginia; they were living in the household of their son Reuben Thompson Floyd.
There are five known children of Mourning Mayo and her husband John Floyd Jr, and research is ongoing:
1) MARY FLOYD married James G. Mayo, born 1798, the son of Richard Richardson Mayo (1777-1854) and Nancy Beaver; grandson of Robert Mayo Sr (1742-1823) and Margaret Richardson (1744-1823); great-grandson of James Mayo Sr (1711-1786) and Martha Williamson; gg-grandson of Valentine Mayo (1665-1716) and Anne Mickleburrough of Christ Church Parish, Middlesex County, Virginia.
2) SARAH JANE FLOYD born (1783-1850) married Thomas Gilliam Preston. They are buried Sandy Creek Cemetery.
3) WILLIAM FLOYD married Elizabeth Ann "Betsyann" (maiden name unknown) and settled in Georgia. They had Rolly S. Floyd 1845, Cecily Floyd 1846, Simon S.P.J. Floyd 1851.
4) REUBEN THOMPSON FLOYD born abt 1801 in South Carolina, died abt 1870 in Marietta, Cass County, Texas, married Galacy/Galazia Mayfield. Reuben is buried on the old John Hefner place North of Marietta, Texas; assume his wife is also buried there. Reuben Thompson Floyd and wife Galacy Mayfield had:
- Green Floyd 1831.
- Nancy T. "Nannie" Floyd 1835, married first William Jackson Hawkins, he is buried Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Lee County, Alabama. Nannie married second Rev. Alfred A. Hefner. Nannie named her firstborn Reuben Ezekiel Hawkins - he d. 1940 & is buried Rattan Cemetery in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma. Nannie Floyd Hawkins Hefner is buried Oak Ridge Cemetery, Marietta, Cass County, Texas. Inscription: Nannie T. wife of Rev. A. Hefner; "Rest mother, rest in quiet sleep, while friends in sorrow o'er thee weep.

- Robert Franklin Floyd 1841-1922. He married Catherine Adelaid Jackson. They are buried in Morris County, Texas in the Naples Cemetery.
- Sarah Jane Floyd b. 14 Mar 1844, Georgia; d. 16 May 1877; buried: Opal Cemetery, Wise County, Texas; m. Reuben Rogers Rountree, b. 25 Dec 1839, Alabama; d. 7 Mar 1924, Coleman County Texas; buried: Santa Anna Cemetery, Coleman County, Texas.
