The death notice from the 14 May 1893 San Francisco Chronicle reads as follows:
ALLEN -- In Oakland, May 12, Myron Winslow Allen, a native of Vermont, aged 68 years.
Funeral services will be held to-morrow (Monday), at 10 o'clock, at residence, 1961 Alice street. Interment private.
Additionally, on the 14th, the paper published:
Death of a Pioneer.
Myron W Allen, an old pioneer, died at his home, 1061 Alice street, yesterday of paralysis. Mr Allen was one of the early settlers in Oakland. He opened the first carriage manufactory here and did a thriving business. The old man is well known throughout the county. The funeral will take place from his late home to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock.
