About Myrtle Cleo Kohl
GALENA, Kan. — Myrtle Cleo Kohl, 92, 821 Chicago St., died at 8:50 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, at a Lowell nursing home of an illness.
Mrs. Kohl was born Nov. 4, 1903, at Seligman, Mo. She lived in Galena most of her life. She worked 20 years at the King Louie Shirt Factory, Baxter Springs. She later worked at the congregate meals site in Galena, retiring at age 80. She was a member of the Sixth Street Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Ruth Rebekah Lodge and the Amy Chapter No. 65 of the Order of the Eastern Star, all of Galena. She also was an active member of the Democratic Party in Cherokee County.
She married Earl Kohl on Oct. 21, 1921, at Neosho, Mo. He died June 10, 1953.
Surviving are a son, Earl 'Junior' Kohl, Midwest City, Okla.; a daughter, Earlene Shuey, Galena; two stepdaughters, Twyle Nell Enright, Albuquerque, N.M., and Eula Marie Jackson, state of New Mexico; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena. Roy Derfelt will officiate.
Amy Chapter No. 65 will conduct Order of the Eastern Star services at 7 p.m. Monday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. The family will receive friends afterward at the funeral home.
