According to the late A. Francis Steuart, Walter son of Alan (aka Walter of Ruthven) had a daughter who married Sir Patrick Edgar. She is said by him to have had a son named Walter Edgar, who had two charter for the lands of Easter and Wester Cultmalundie from her brother, Gilbert of Ruthven. The charters were undated but are said to have been confirmed by Alexander III, King of Scots, on 16 May 1279. The Scots Peerage IV: 255
