About Juliana fitz Waleran

Keats-Rohan identifies Juliana with the Juliana who in 1129/30 was married to William de Hastings of Sussex and Essex (son of Robert, son of Ralph), and owed money from her grandfather Waleran's time.

Later apparently married Robert Doisnel and had a daughter and heir Juliana. (There is no record of Robert's wife, but Keats-Rohan speculates that she was the Juliana who appears in the 1129/30 Pipe role as a grand-daughter of a Waleran and the wife of a William de Hastings. Then mother and daughter would have the same name. This would also help explain why Robert Doisnel's heirs had some manors which one belonged to the son of a Waleran.)

When Robert Doisnel's daughter (also named Juliana) died without heir, the next in line were William de Werberton and Idonea de Monceaux in Sussex and Keats-Rohan believes these must be descendants from the elder Juliana's first marriage with William de Hastings.

Round points out that through Juliana there seems to have been an inheritance of a marshalcy in the king's court, involving prostitutes, which seems to have originally been held by John fitz Waleran.[1]
