Nancy Baity

Nancy is the daughter of Margaret (Scantlin) and Jacob Shores. She married Enoch Baity and together they had seven children. After her father's death her family moved west. They first settled in Morgan, Illinois where four of her seven children were born. Her family, her mother, and two brothers finally settled in Macon Co. Missouri. Two other brothers and a sister went to Arkansas. She and Enoch settled in Richland Township where they had a farm. She continued to live on the family farm with George and his family after Enoch's death. She saw her two sons go off to war for the North during the Civil War and return. She saw four of her seven children grow to adulthood. She had at least 26 grandchildren before her death. Nancy had many heartbreaking events in her life, but her strength of character helped her carry on. She is my 2nd great grandmother.
