Nancy Bourke

Nancy Campbell was born in 1792 at St Mary's Falls, Minnesota Territory(near Prairie du Chien, Crawford County, Minnesota, USA.) Her parents were Archibald John Colin Campbell (a trader) and Ninse (a Sioux born and raised on the territory near Mankota) While John Palmer Bourke was at the Lac Traverse HBC Post, he met and married Nancy Campbell in the Sioux Custom of the Country. On their return to Upper Fort Garry in 1821, Nancy gave birth to their first child, Margaret Anne Bourke. They were still in the Minnesota Territories. When John Palmer Bourke, Nancy and the new baby (Margaret) arrived at Upper Fort Garry, they decided to re-marry in the English Custom. On the 11th of June 1821, they were re-married by Reverend John West,(the first Anglican Minister to the Red River Settlement). John Palmer Bourke and Nancy Campbell had 8 children:

John Palmer Bourke died in 1851 at St James, Manitoba Nancy Campbell died in 1887 at St James, Manitoba They are buried together at the St James Anglican Cemetery, in St James, Manitoba, Canada
