Mrs. Nancy McCubbin died Feb. 6, 1901, at 1:55 a.m. She was born Jan. 27, 1819, in Overton county, Tenn., and in 1937 her parents moved to Magopher county, Ill. In 1839 they moved to Missouri, where she married John Smathers. They separated the following year and she married Wm. R. McCubbin, Sept. 17, 1842. In 1852 they emigrated to Oregon and settled on a homestead near Clear Creek in Clackamas county. In 1862 they went to Boise City, Idaho, where they remained until 1865, at which time they returned to Clackamas county. Mr. McCubbin died Feb. 9, 1899, of heart failure. Deceased leaves three sons and four daughters, three sisters, five brothers, 76 grandchildren and great grand children to mourn her loss. Her children are John H. McCubbin, of Wallowa county; Elizabeth Brown, Lucinda Deen, Diana Holcomb, Thomas P. McCubbin, and Rhoda Kirchem of Clackamas county and William Henry Smithers, all of whom attended her in her last illness except J. H. McCubbin, who could not get there.
