The 1870 U.S. Census finds Abraham, Nancy and family living in Shasta Co., CA. With Abraham and Nancy are John, Austin, and Abraham L. Abraham, Sr. (48 yrs) is a miner. Nancy is 47 yrs. John is 27 (b. Iowa) and is also a miner; Austin is 15, b. in Calif. and attending school; Abraham, Jr. is 8 yrs and born in Oregon.

The 1880 U.S. Census for Halls Prairie, Coos Co., Oregon shows Abraham and wife Nancy Adams along with son Abraham L. Sargent (19 yrs) and grandson John T. Sargent (6 yrs)(John Franklin Sargent) living in the household. John was the only child born to Oliver and his first wife, Mary E. Harris Sargent.
