Nancy Auxier and her husband, Jacob Webb, lived their entire married life in Blockhouse Bottom. Jacob Webb purchased the home place from Nancy's father, Enoch Auxier. Their son, Dr. Tobias Webb, later lived in the home with his family. Nancy Auxier Webb lived 88 years in the same location. She was buried only a few yards from where she was born.

Jacob Webb was the son of Edward Webb and Judia Butcher. When Edward Webb enlisted during the Civil War, Jacob went with his father to care for him. When Confederate forces raided the Blockhouse Bottom, Nancy was forced to cook a meal for the hungry rebels. Her manner so intimidated the soldiers they insisted that she first taste the food. They feared that she may have poisoned the meal.
