The town and district has suffered severe blows in the past few days, the Reaper having claimed several esteemed residents. Mrs. Brewer, mother [sic - grandmother] of Mrs. Geo. Farmer, passed away last week. Then came word of the sudden collapse of Mrs. Sherratt, of Hastings Street. This week comes the sad news of the death in hospital of Mrs. J. Hunter, who leaves a mourning husband and three young children. Mr. George Sprat t passed away suddenly early yesterday morning, the funeral taking place at 10.80 this morning.
