According to "Additonal Beckwith Notes", Nathan served in the Revolutionary War as a soldier in Co. Thomas Knowlton's Rangers, Reg. 20 Continentals. He was known as Nathan the Reckless, one of KNowlton's holy terrors to the Tories. Nathan and his son Nathan Jr. both served in the War of 1812.

1. Nathan BECKWITH Jr.

Nathan Beckwith ; at Waterford, Conn., 1820, ap-
peared Nathan Beckwith, and says he was born in
1747 ; a sailor by profession ; enlisted in the Conti-
nental Army, December, 1775, for one year, in Capt,
Sdl's Co., Col. Parsons' Keg., and was discharged at
Peekskill, N. Y., January 1st, 1777.

His family now consists of his wife, Patience, sixty-
nine years ohl, and one grandchild, Samuel Beck-
with, aged nine. The schedule of his property is as
follows : One cow and calf, pledged to pay his rent,
valued at s30 ; other personal property, $65.31 ; and
he says he owns neither house nor lands.

settled at Waterford, Conn. ; sailor. En-
listed in the Revolutionary Anoiy in 1775 ;
served in Sells' company, Parsons' regiment;
