Nathan Kinne brought his family to Lower Waterford from Hanover, New Hampshire in 1796, becoming one of the earliest settlers in the area. When daughter Zeruah Davison died, The St. Johnsbury Caledonian (May, 1882) described Nathan's family as "... among those hard-working pioneers who did so much towards clearing up our county and making it habitable."
