There is a yet undetermined relationship to Joseph Jacob Waldstein, earlier settler in St Louis, also prominent (with a brother)) in lumber business there and in Arkansas.
Nathan's son, Franz Waldstein, survived him. Known sisters: Caroline Sternberg 1844 - 1916 Amelia Benas 1842 - 1887 Possible brother: Henry 1829 - 1880
