iii. Nathaniel, Butler, son of Richard Butler & his wife Elizabeth, born probably about 1641; freeman, May, 1668; died in Wethersfield, February 9, 1697, aged 56. Married Sarah (Green) Alcock

"Nathaniel was made a freeman May 21, 1668. On May 11, 1698 an inventory of his estate was offered in court, administered by his son Samuel. However, Samuel died before settlement of the estate and "his widow Sarah petitioned the court at Hartford for letters of administration, which were granted June: 17, 1708. The following relates to Nathaniel in the matter of the administration of the estate of J. Green who married Hannah Butler, sister of Nathaniel. It appears to fix the name as Joseph rather than John Green. Whereas complaint is made that a parcel of land that was appraised upon execution for the administrators of the estate of Joseph Green--the court appoynts the Marshall to serve the execution upon the lands of sayd Nath. Butler--Again, an action of the General Court is cited: Hartford, Oct. 12, 1693, Nathaniel Butlar is plntf contra Gurdon Saltonstall defendant by way of appeal from the judgment of the Court of Assistants Oct. 5, 1692

Nathaniel and Sarah had six children, who were mentioned in the father's will."[1]
