About Nathaniel Harrison, II

Nathaniel Harrison II, eldest son, who inherited Brandon and built the present house. Nathaniel Harrison, of Brandon, was like his father a prominent man in the colony and a member of the Council of State. He married first Mary, daughter of Colonel Cole Digges (1692-1744), and secondly, Lucy, widow of Henry Fitzhugh and daughter of Honorable Robert Carter, of Corotoman. His first wife was the mother of his eldest son and the heir of Brandon, Benjamin Harrison, whose portrait is among those upon the walls.
