Nathaniel PATCHETT

GEDCOM Note

"Nathaniel Patchett was born in England, sometime around the year 1760. He became an orphan at a very early age and was adopted by the Patchett family, a family of more than moderate financial wealth.

He came to the United States of America sometime in the year 1778, alone, wanting to avoid the extremely strict military laws of that time and place. It was this reason he did not return to England for the alleged large inheritance willed to him through the Bank of England, London, England, by his adopted parents.

Around the year 1784 and approximately twenty-four (24) years of age, Nathaniel married a girl by the name of Catherine. Information pertaining to her full name; where and when she was born; where and when Nathaniel and Catherine were married; how many children were born to them; when and where they were buried -- all is not known. The story was told to me, by my mother, Grace Bernice McNEELEY, and grandfather James Milton McNEELEY, that there was some kind of inheritance in England and that Earl Wilson McNEELEY had gone to London one time to try and prove his lineage to obtain it, but the lines were long and he ran out of time and had to leave.
