Deceased was born at Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky August 5, 1797. He was baptized Jan 17 1834 in Monroe County, Missouri and soon after made a visit to Kirtland, Ohio where he met with the Prophet Joseph, and made arrangements to go up to Jackson County.
