He was the son of Samuel Stacey and Hannah Ayers, husband of Mehitabel Beach and the father of Sarah Marie Stacey Ames.

He served in the American Revolution with Captain Eli Leavenworth's 10th Company, Charles Webb's 7th Regiment 1775; (said to have been captured in Battle of Lake Champlain and paroled in Canada 1779; Alarm List 1779.

Took up a Fish Rite (right) in 1794, on the Quinnipiac 3/4 miles south of Mansfield Bridge.
