Biography

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/112875903

It is unclear at this time where and when Nathaniel Winchell was born. Some sources show him being born in 1636 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. There are other sources showing him coming with his parents to America, which would have him being born about 1633 or 1634 in England. His birth is not recorded in Windsor where the rest of his siblings are, leading me to believe he was born in England.

His parents were Robert and Mary Phelps Winchell. Nathaniel was made a freeman May 21, 1657. He married Sarah Porter April n8, 1664 at Windsor and their children were: Nathaniel, Thomas, Sarah Porter, Stephen, John and Mary.

May 13, 1680, along with 89 other people, he signed a petition to the General Assembly of the Colony of Connecticut asking to establish an organized town on the east side of the Connecticut River and the institution of a second church in Windsor. Nathaniel died March 8, 1699 at Windsor and is probably buried there.
