Nathaniel alias Paul (Otis) Hotesse was born circa 1684 in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire. His parents were Stephen Otis and Mary (Pitman) Otis.

Nathaniel alias Paul married Elizabeth Otis Hotesse (Wabert) on November 3, 1710 in Quebec, Canada. Together they had the following children: Paul Otis; Louis Otis; Marie-Catherine Otis.

Nathaniel alias Paul married Madeleine Otis Hotesse (Toupin Dussault) on October 20, 1721 in Montreal, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Together they had the following children: Marie-Madeleine Otis Hotesse.

Nathaniel alias Paul married Marie Anne Otis (Perthius) on September 19, 1728 in Canada.

Nathaniel alias Paul married Marie-Anne Caron on September 22, 1728 in Montréal, Île-de-Montréal, Québec, Canada. Together they had the following children: Madeleine Amable Lefebvre (Hotesse).

He died on December 24, 1730 in Montreal, Canada.


He was a master cooper. He was captured by Indians as a child, and sold to the French in Québec. He was baptized a Roman Catholic under the name Paul, and appears in Canadian records as Paul Hotesse.

Nathaniel Otis was born about 1684. Captured in a raid as a child he was taken to Montreal where he was rebaptised as Paul Hotesse . He was a cooper, an important occupation in those days. He communicated with his brother- in- law, Ebenezer Varney, in 1714, relinquishing claim to inheritances in New England. He was buried in Montreal Dec, 26, 1730.
