About Naumann Lachmann

A horsedealer in Graudenz

Perhaps a cousin of Naumann Lachmann

This particular Naumann was still alive in 1894 at the time of his daughter's wedding. The other was dead in Berlin by then.

Naumann Lachmann Here rests a Jewish man from Graudenz. Mr. Naumann Lachmann was called away from the world of life to a strange place on 13 Siwan 5654. // Here rests Naumann Fachmann from Graudenz, born April 24, 1824 in Neuenburg, died June 17, 1894 here.

Naumann Lachmann is not listed in the 1892/93 address book, meaning that he lived with one of the sons or was visiting here. Information from the death certificate: horse dealer

Naumann Lachmann, born in Neuenburg / West Prussia, living in Graudenz, married to Rebecka Lachmann, née Hirsch.

He is also not listed in the registration file. Listed there are: Adolf Lachmann (born 7 Dec 1860 in Graudenz) wardrobe store, Fallersleberstr. 20; moved to Berlin in 1911. Hermann Lachmann (born 7 Aug 1856 in Graudenz), checkroom business, Höhe 32. An advertisement from 1891 refers to his business activity: "Due to the breakthrough of the stables and demolition of the houses, my large warehouse should and must be finished. Men's, boys' and workers' clothing at the cheapest prices until December 31, 1891. H. Lachmann, Höbe and Marstall-Ecke." In 1914 he moved to Berlin. Hermann was married to Henriette Lachmann, née Sachs (born 2 Mar 1857 in Berlin).

There seems to be a kinship relationship to Samuel Sachs (b. 1848 in Berlin, d. 1892 in Braunschweig). It was often the case that when relatives wanted to establish themselves elsewhere, they relied on the help of relatives who were already established there.
