About Ned Lamont

Ned Lamont is an American politician and businessman. In 2006, he defeated incumbent United States Senator Joe Lieberman in Connecticut's Democratic primary election. However, in the general election, Lamont and Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger were defeated by Lieberman, who then ran as an independent candidate. In 2010, he ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Connecticut, and was defeated by Dan Malloy, who went on to win the general election. He is running for governor again in 2018.

Lamont founded Campus Televideo, which provides video and data services to U.S. college campuses. The company was sold in 2015. Lamont is currently chair of Lamont Digital Systems, an early investor in Watch Up and in Stringr, both new media companies. He is currently a faculty member and chair of the Arts and Sciences Public Policy Committee at Central Connecticut State University, where he was named by the Board of Trustees as Distinguished Professor of political science and philosophy.
