Neels (64), a farmer from Ellisras, (Lephalale) was stabbed twice in the back and died on 30th March 2004.
According to police spokesperson, insp. Madimetja Makgakge, Neels' son, Corné, found his father's body in the house. There had been a struggle, and police found the body of one of his attackers a few hundred metres from the house. He had a gunshot wound in the side of his body. There was a second perpetrator who had fled.
Nothing but the shotgun was missing from the house. The police were still looking for the remaining suspect.
