Nellie Wallace Reeser

Nellie Wallace Reeser, a seventh generation Ault in America, was a native of Indiana, descended from French, German, Swiss, and Scotch-Irish ancestry. She attended Indiana State Normal, Indiana University, and graduated from the university of Chicago. Research in family and professional genealogy were her primary interest following her retirement in 1948 from her teaching career in Chicago.

Miss Reeser was Staff Researcher for the Historical Society of York County, Pennsylvania where she lived from 1948 to 1960. She served a two year term as Recording Secretary of the National Genealogical Society. Returning to Indiana she conducted genealogical workshops for the Indiana Historical Society, and edited its HOOSIER GENEALOGISTS for three years.

Genealogical works authored by Miss Reeser include: Valentin Alt, His Children and Grandchildren; Daniel Knarr and Lucinda Ault and A Charted Record of the Valentin Alt Family in America.

Miss Reeser was a member of the Huguenot Societies of Indiana and Pennsylvania; WEA Chapter of Daughters of American Colonists; The Indiana Historical Society; The Historical Society of York County, Pennsylvania; and the Tippecanoe County (Indiana) Historical Association. Miss Reeser also served as Registrar of the Huguenot Society of Indiana.
