Nepthali Brooks Martin

Nepthali's wife Martha Kitching was also his step-sister -- her mother (Elizabeth Merritt Kitching) married Nepthali's father (William Nelson Martin) after the death of her first husband's James Henry Kitching. Elizabeth was William's third wife; Nepthali's mother was William's first wife.

Martha's brother Henry Clay Kitching (1844-1918) married Martha Jane Martin (1839-1868) who happened to be the sister-in-law of Nepthali's older brother John Marshall Martin (whose wife Lydia Ann--Martha Jane's sister--was also a Martin).
