About Nicolas-Romain II Petit dit Laprée

Son of Nicolas & Catherine Ancelin, of Ford-with Alleré, committed on March 16, 1649 with the Small rock in front of the notary Pierre Teuleron, by Jean Ligeois, priest of the Society of Jesus, for Pierre Butcher, sior of Large-Wood, married Thursday August 17, 1656 with Three-Rivers with Marie Pomponelle, father of 9 children, Nicolas Petit dies in Varennes Wednesday June 26, 1697. He is buried in Cape-Varennes the following day.

Nicolas Petit, the ploughman, was engaged March 16, 1649.


On July 24, 1656, he signs a marriage contract in the Ameau notary, to marry on August 17, 1656, in Trois-Rivières, Marie Pomponnelle, daughter of Jean Pomponelle and Michelle Boulet. Her parents came from Longèves, the district of the Petit rock, of Aunis, in Charente-Maritime.

On 24 July 1656, they signed their marriage contract before the Severin Ameau notary Boucher lord of the house in Trois-Rivières where it says that Nicolas Petit said "have in France a house from one located Bourneuf in Aunis and some vines in the same place. " On 16 August 1656, he bought Jean Pacaut at a price of 45 pounds, a land of two acres frontage in Trois-Rivières, in the lordship of the Jesuits. He married the next day, Thursday, 17 August 1656. From their union were born 9 children.


Daily life for the people of the new country was not easy. They worked from dawn to sunset to clear land. In addition, there were the Iroquois attacks. At the 1681 census, their land of Trois-Rivières, they have three cattle and thirty acres of land value. In 1683 Marie and Nicolas, who lost his land in Trois-Rivières, they went to live in Varennes in home of their son-in. In 1693, both being blind, they took residence with their son Paul ..

In 1693 Marie and Nicolas went to live with their son Paul. There was dated April 22, 1695 in Varennes, at the notary Adhemar, a waiver by their children to future successions Nicolas Petit (Le) and Mary Pomponnelle his wife for their son Paul Petit and donation by Petit said Pomponnelle audit and Paul Petit.

All children signed.

Nicolas died June 26, 1697 and Marie novembre1700 18 at Varennes and were buried in the church of Varennes.

Their descendants are now scattered around the world.


At least 9 children are born with the couple between 1657 and 1671, all baptized in Trois-Rivières.

Louis Petit, the second child was born and baptized on August 4, 1658.

Their son, Louis Petit, born in 1689, wife on November 23, 1711, with Boucherville , Marie-Anne Meunier, born in 1679, widow of Antoine Favreau, since November 1709, girl of the ancestor Pierre Meunier , known as Lapierre and of Richaume Barb.

With the fourth generation, their Louise daughter Petit, baptized in 1712, becomes the wife on February 5, 1731, in Varennes, of Joseph Quintin, born in 1705, wire of the ancestor Jean Quintin and Jeanne Delpé-Pariseau . Finally, the second wire of Nicolas Petit and Catherine Anceline, Paul Petit, who is known as Lalumière, born and baptized on November 1, 1662, with Three-Rivers, marries on January 8, 1691, in Boucherville, Louise Bissonet, baptized on July 28, 1674, in Boucherville, girl of Jacques Bissonnet and Marguerite Collet.
