About Niels Thueson

Niels Thueson Dorcheus was a Mormon Pioneer of 1860. He was the son of Thue N. Dorcheus and Marianne Nielson of Lemvig, Jutland, Denmark, born June 21, 1812, at Lemvig. He came to Utah September 9, 1860 in the James D. Ross company. He married Angelica C. Lund 1840, Copenhagen, Denmark, who was born June 24, 1808. They had the following children: John T. born April 25, 1842, who married Ellen Jensen; and Laura M. born June 22, 1846, who married John England. The family resided Plain City, Gunnison, Scipio and Monroe, Utah. Niels was a High priest; member high council, Sevier stake, and was a carpenter on St. George temple. He died October 22, 1892.

John T. Dorcheus, the son of Niels Dorcheus and Angelica C. Lund), was born April 25, 1842, in Copenhagen, Denmark, and came to Utah with his father. He married Ellen Jensen February 18, 1865, in Gunnison, Utah, the daughter of Knud Jensen and Bodil Olson of Gunnison, Utah, pioneers 1862. She was born August 11, 1844; and came to Utah September 15, 1859, in the Robert F. Neslen company, and died March 10, 1913, at Monroe, Utah. Their children were:

John J. born December 19, 1866, married Julia Maria Larsen November 8, 1893;


Niels O. born February 28, 1871, married Lydia Webb;


Constant born March 12, 1874, married Birdie A. Hesse September 1, 1897;


Angelica born December 3, 1877, died;


Caroline born July 24, 1885, married Andrew Staples 1906.

The family resided Gunnison, Scipio and Monroe, Utah.


Married: Alice P. Wasden June 14, 1868, Salt Lake City (daughter of Thomas Wasden and Mary Brooks, the former pioneer 1859, Robert F. Neslen company). She was born November 28, 1842, Ashton, England. Their children were:

Married: Mary McDonald December 20, 1882, St. George, Utah (daughter of Edward McDonald and Elizabeth Kellun, pioneers 1866). She was born March 5, 1863, Bishopsbriggs, Lannarkshire, Scotland. Their children were:
