About Niklas Johnson
CALUMET. An Accident at the Calumet and Hecla Mine.
An accident occurred at the Calumet and Hecla mine on the night of the 16th Inst. by which a Swede named Nicholas Johnson was killed. It appears that the deceased, with some other miners was working in a slope where they had just had a blast, and which left a large rock hanging, but which could not be moved by crowbars. Johnson went to the level for a drill, and just as he returned the rock came away, falling upon and killing him instantly. Johnson leaves a widow and five children, who have not been out in this country more than two months.
