Norman E. Rees, 82, passed away January 27th from cancer at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, Washington. Norman and his wife Linda were residents of Sequim, Washington for 18 years.

Norman was born in Rains, Utah to Ellwood T. and Thelma Frances Rees. He married his sweetheart, Linda Lee Lashway, August 3, 1957 in Palmyra, New York.

Norman served in the United States Air Force from December 1954 to July 1957. He attended the University of Utah before and after military service, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in 1962. He received a Master's degree from the University of Idaho in 1966. He then went to work for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Rangeland Insect Laboratory, Agricultural Research Service in Bozeman, Montana as a Research Entomologist. His work included research on biological control of grasshoppers and later with biological control of rangeland weeds. He authored many publications on these subjects.

Norman's hobbies after retirement included gardening, spending time with his family, doing family history and serving in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife Linda of 58 years, five children, Terry (Ok) Rees, Michael (Deborah) Rees, Catherine (Jay) Phillips, P. Rees and J. Rees, seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two brothers, Dr. Jerome (Merla) Rees, Richard (Susan) Rees and one sister, Sharon (Dr. Richard) Jennings.

The family suggests that remembrances in his memory be contributions to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 815 W. Washington St., Sequim, Washington.

Burial will take place at the Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 9:30 a.m.
