About Norman Ward Ressler

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the

Medal of Honor

to Corporal Norman W. Ressler, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 1 July 1898, while serving with Company D, 17th U.S. Infantry, in action at El Caney, Cuba. Corporal Ressler gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines and under heavy fire of the enemy.

Spanish-American War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served in the United States Army during the War with Spain as a Corporal in Companu D, 17th United States Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at El Caney, Cuba, on July 1, 1898. His citation reads "Gallantly assisted in the rescue of the wounded from in front of the lines and under heavy fire of the enemy". His Medal was awarded to him on August 21, 1899.
