Nub was born at Aadal, Buskerud, Norway to Gulbrand and Maria G. Wigen. He came with his parents to America when he was 14 years old. They settled in the Walnut Grove area.
He first married Anna Knudtson and they lived at Minot, ND, where their two children were born:
- Mina Almine "Minnie" Nov. 3, 1889 - Jan. 16, 1910
- Karl (Carl) Gustav Mar. 17, 1891 - Jul. 15 1893 They moved to the Walnut Grove area, where Anna and Karl died. Anna, Karl and Minnie all died of TB.
Nub then married Julia J. Olson on Jun 3, 1896. They moved to Kanabec Co, MN in April of 1900 and settled in Knife Lake Township. He farmed. They were active in township and school affairs.
Together they had 10 children:
