Biography

Obed Hervey was born in Patterson in 1756. He was the son of Obed Harvey and Abigail Bell. (Obed Harvey Sr., b. 1721, Norton, MA moved to Amenia, NY vicinity and used Hervey as his surname there - all his descendant generations appear to follow this use thereafter.) He (Obed,Jr) built a carding machine, a sawmill, a store and blacksmith shop.

Obed died in 1837.[1]
