Olga Bartnicki
March 25, 1923 - Sept. 22, 2002
NORWICH - Olga Bartnicki, 79, of 49 Lincoln Ave., Norwich, died
unexpectedly on Sunday at her home.
She was born on March 25, 1923 in Norwich, Connecticut. She was the
daughter of Boris and Anna (Aleskevich) Avdevich.
She was married to Charles J. Bartnicki on June 23, 1946 at Divine
Providence Church in Norwich. He died on March 20, 1990.
Mrs. Bartnicki was a licensed beautician and owned Olga's Beauty
Salon in downtown Norwich for many years. She also worked at Pratt &
Whitney Aircraft during World War II.
She was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy class of 1941. She
served as vice-president of her class and was voted class dancer.
She was a long time summer resident of Eastern Point Beach in Groton
and was an avid swimmer.
She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in
She is survived by two sons, Charles J. Bartnicki Jr. of Groton and
William B. Bartnicki of Middletown; four daughters, Cathy L. Bradley
of Orange, Olga Bartnicki of Brandon, OR, Susan Ann Stabach of
Temple, TX and Laurie J. Bartnicki of Middletown; one brother, Alex
Avdevich of Preston; one sister, Anna Chinigo of Norwich; numerous
grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by three brothers, John, Stephen and Filmore Avdevich; and one
sister, Julia Ekstrom.
The funeral will assemble on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the Woyasz &
Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., followed by a service at 10:00
a.m. at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Norwich. Burial will
follow in St. Nicholas Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be held
on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of
flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart
Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
