About Olive R. Dalton

Birth: Jan. 7, 1924 Death: Dec. 26, 2005

Daughter of Loyal Lester & Susie Jane (Lassley) McGinnis; married 1941 Clinton Dalton.

Olive Rosalee McGinnis came into this world on January 7, 1924, and left this world December 26, 2005, at home, in her sleep exactly the way she wanted. Rosalee was born in the Shady Grove community near Sparta, Mo., at the home of her grandparents, John and Delia McGinnis. Her father, Loyal McGinnis, was killed while working for Frisco Railroad in 1929 and her mother, Susie Jane Lassley McGinnis, died in 1943 from a brain tumor. In 1941, Rosalee married Clinton Dalton and they lived in the West Finley community before divorcing in 1962. Four children were born to their union. She is survived in the home by her closest personal friend of 17 years, Michael Shay; three children, Connie Elaine Bell and her husband, Joe, of Licking, Mo.; Dale Clinton Dalton, Sr., and his wife, Sandy, of Rogersville, Mo.; and Deborah Jane Dalton, of Springfield, Mo. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Dalton and his wife, Joyce, of Little Elm, Texas; and a sister, Mary Virginia Bowman, of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Ann Dalton Brown. Rosalee was blessed with a large family, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known by all the grandchildren as "BoBo", a nickname given her by her first grandchild 44 years ago. Rosalee is loved by all who knew her and is admired for her strength and her tenacity. Her family was all important to her and she was very proud of them. She kept God in her heart and mind and expressed her optimism for life each day. She will be greatly missed by all. Rosalee would like to extend a grateful thank you to St. John's Hospice for the past wonderful year. Thanks be to God. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 29, 2005, at 11 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Rev. Lori Lampert officiating, with burial to follow in Shipman Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, in the funeral home.
