Oliver Halstead, born 1509, was the son of Lawrence Halstead 1485 – 1570 and Hester (no maiden name Halstead 1486 – 1575.

His known siblings were: John Halstead 1502; Ellen Halstead 1506; Anne Halstead 1507; Henry Halstead 1510 and George Halstead 1514.

Oliver married to Ann Barcroft in 1532. They were probably married and had their children baptized at St Peter's Parish Church, Burnley.

The children born to this union were:

1. Nathaniel Halstead 1533;
2. John Halstead 1535 – 1632;
3. Lawrence Halstead 1542 – 1630;
4. Henry Halstead 1544 – 1611;
5. Ellen Halstead 1546;
6. George Halstead 1547 and
7. Anne Halstead 1549 – 1581.
