MEMORIAL PHOTOS 0 FLOWERS 0 Oliver W. McCarty, 63, a widely known local business man and an active member of many fraternal organizations, died at his home here Wednesday. He had been ill for about three weeks. Only a little more than a month ago Mr. McCarty gave up the managership of the Shell Oil Station here after operating it for more than a year. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Church with Father Joseph Bartelme, pastor, Father Benedict Marx, assistant pastor, and Father Alfred Loehr, a relative of the McCarty family, will officiated at the solemn funeral mass.

Mr. McCarty was born at Kingsbridge, Manitowoc County, April 25, 1889, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Markwardt McCarty. He attended high school in Manitowoc and later entered the Sheboygan Business college and graduated from the institution. He served two years as cashier of the Marathon, Wis., bank, from 1919 – 1921, after his discharge from the service in World War I. He was associated with Chilton Brewery many years ago and after that discontinued operations he conducted for many years a retail and wholesale beer depot of this own.

Mr. McCarty was active through the years in a great many local fraternal organizations, he served as president of the equitable Reserve of the Chilton Aerie of Eagles for many years, was a long time member of the Calumet Council Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph Sick Benefit Society and the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s congregation, the American Legion and the 40 et 8.

Mr. McCarty married Miss Evelyn Schweitzer Oct. 28, 1933, at St. Mary’s church. They have two daughters, Mary and Sylvia. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a sister, Mrs. Gerhard B. (Della ) Jensen. Chilton Times – January 15, 1953
