Olli Wilhelm Rissanen

Olli Wilhelm Rissanen was born on the 13th of February 1891 in Nurmes, North Karelia, Finland to Olli and Ida Rissanen. He was their second child and first to live to adulthood. He would have 9 younger siblings.

The Rissanens moved to Kotka, Kymenlaakso in 1905 when Olli Wilhelm was 14 years old. In Kotka Olli Wilhelm met his forthcoming wife Lyyli Lääti and they married on the 7th of September 1912 in Kotka. The couple had four children, first a daughter Tuija Marjatta born in 1913, then a son Olavi Ensio in 1917 who drowned in 1923 at the age of 6. Finally they had twins, Heikki and Helena Elisabeth born just a moth after Olavi's death in 1923.

Olli Wilhelm Rissanen fought in the Finnish Civil War and almost lost his life. Luckily he was a great trumpet player and apparently that saved his life during the war.

He worked as a foreman.

Olli Wilhelm Rissanen died on the 11th of July 1973 in Kymi, Kymenlaakso and was buried to the same grave with his wife, parents, brother Aarne, sister Hilja and son Olavi. Later, his daughter Helena was buried there also.
