OBITUARY -

Orville K. Root
New Richland - Services for Orville K. "Buck" Root, 51, of Wilton Township, south of Waseca, who died Thursday evening when his pickup truck struck a grain wagon that was parked on Highway 12 just northwest of New Richland, will be 2 pm. Monday at the Congregational Church, the Rev. Jack Perdue officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Richland.

Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Friedrichs' Funeral Home, New Richland, and one hour before services at the church.

Mr. Root was born in Wilton Township, Waseca County, to Burchard and Esther (Gehring) Root. He atttended rural Waseca County schools. He married Monica Minske at the New Richland Congregational Church, Aug. 24, 1952. He farmed and kept a dairy herd in Wilton Township. He was a member of the Waseca County Dairy Herd Improvement Association and a former member of the Wilton River Riders Saddle Club. He was also a member of the Congregational Church, New Richland.

Mr. Root is survived by hs wife, Monica; his mother, Esther Root of Waseca; two daughters, Ann (Mrs. Jeff) Ruedy of Waseca and Mary Root of Madison, Wis.; four sons, Keith of Waseca and Troy, Richard and Burch "Buddy" Root, all of New Richland; five brothers, Vernon of Pine City, William of Crocker, Mo., and David, Marvin "Hans" and Gene "Buzz" Root of Denver, Colo.; five sisters, Anita (Mrs. William) Jewison of Janesville, Barbara (Mrs. Duane) Tolzmann of Minnesota Lake, Nona (Mrs. David) Smith of New Richland, Thelma (Mrs. Orville) Yess of St. Paul and Opal (Mrs. Charles) Hofius of Merrifield; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald, a sister, Iola Borchert, and his father, Burchard Root.

Orville "Buck" Root

Funeral services for Orville K. "Buck" Root, 51, of Rt. 2, New Richland, who died Thursday April 21 from injuries received in an automobile accident on County Road 12 Northwest of New Richland were held 2 p.m. Monday, April 25 at the Congregational Church in New Richland, the Rev. Jack Perdue officiating.

Visitation was held Sunday at Friedrich's Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour before services at the church.

Mr. Root was born August 5, 1931 in Wilton Township. He attended rural schools in the county and lived his entire life on the family farm, working as a dairy and crop farmer.

He married Monica Minske of New Richland at the Congregational Church on August 24, 1952.

Mr. Root is a member of the Waseca County Dairy Herd Improvement Association and a former member of the Wilton River Riders saddle club.

He is survived by his wife, Monica; by his mother, Mrs. Esther Root of Waseca; by sons Burch and his wife Kayla of New Richland, Keith and his wife Suzanne of Waseca, and Troy and Richard of New Richland; by daughters Anne (Mrs. Jeff) Ruedy of Waseca and Mary Root of Madison, Wisc.; by grandchildren Jeremy, Jessica, David and Dallas Root and Jason and Lisa Ruedy; by brothers Vernon, of Pine City, and Marvin (Hans) of Denver, Colo., William of Crocker, Mo., Gene (Buzz) of Denver and David, of Denver; and by sisters Anita (Mrs. William) Jewison of Janesville and Barbara (Mrs. Duane) Tolzmann of Minn. Lake, Nona (Mrs. David) Smith of New Richland, Thelma (Mrs. Orville) Yess of St. Paul, and Opal (Mrs. Charles) Hofius of Merrifield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald, in infancy and a sister, Iola Borchert.

Pallbearers were Ronald Weise, Lowell Root and Dale Gehloff, all of Waseca; and Raymond Peterson and John and Oddie Greenwood of New Richland.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Harlan Berg and Donald Root.
