About Oscar Freeman
James Oscar Freeman was a merchant, owner of a sawmil, owner of the Almond Motor Company and Freeman's Motel. Oscar served as the Sunday School superintendent of Almond Baptist Church and was chairman of the planning and building committee. He was a 32 degree Mason and was a member of the Swain County School Board for several years. He also served as a Justice of the Peace and deputy sheriff. He was buried in the family cemetery at Almond until 1998 they moved the graves to Swain Memorial Park , Bryson City, NC. because of four lane road being built.
