Otho Paul Barker

Graveside services for Elwood resident, Otho Barker, were held Thursday, January 29, 1981 at the Elwood Cemetery. Clayville Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

 Otho Paul Barker was born on January 27, 1903 in Corning, Iowa. He was raised there and later united in marriage to Nora Etta Glade in Corning, Iowa on February 4, 1925.

 After their marriage, they remained in Iowa where they farmed and began their family. In 1935, they moved to Oregon and resided in Canby until 1941 when moving to Elwood area near Colton to make their home permanent.

 Mr.Barker was employed doing mill work until his retirement in 1967. After retiring, he remained active around their farm until ill health forced him to quit.

 During most of his life, Mr. Barker played the fiddle, which gave him and many others much enjoyment.

 Mr. Barker passed away January 26, 1981 in an Oregon City hospital. He lived 77 years, one day from his 78th birthday.

 Survivors include his wife, Nora;  children: Bertha Strean, Port Angeles, Washington;  Ethel Dygert, Arcata, California; Chester Barker, Walla walla, Washington; John Barker, Elgin, Oregon; Marjorie Weihemuller, Rainer, Oregon; and Carolyn Block, Colton, Oregon; 18 grandchildern and and 6 great grandchildern; 4 brothers: Harold, Loyal, Homer, and Marvin Barker; 5 sisters Beulah Kolk, Doris Robertson, Marjorie Freelove, Verla Weaver,and Vivian Strean.

   Preceding him in death, brother Ralph Clifford, 1901-1902. Parents; Beach Barker 1874-1961, Mary Alice Jennings Barker 1881-1962.
