About Otto Leo Hammerschmidt
Victoria -- Otto L. Hammerschmidt, 76, died Monday, Jan. 16, at the Hoisington Lutheran Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1907 at Walker, the son of Jacob and Anna (Bieker) Hammerschmidt.
He married Evelyn Windholz Oct. 24, 1939 at Emmeram; she died April 14, 1973. He was a retired construction worker and a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria.
Survivors include two sons, Elwyn, Hoisington, and Marcian, Munjor; a daughter, Rose Anne Schmidt, Wichita; two sisters, Minnie Windholz, Victoria, and Caroline Dubois, Salina; three brothers, Tura and Lawrence, both of Hays, and Herman, Russell; eight grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Fidelis, with Father Gilmary Tallman; burial was in the St. Fidelis Cemetery.
