11 Sep 1951 (no newspaper information) Ercel V. Hubbard, a veteran of World War I, died at 5 o'clock Friday morning at the home of his aunt, Mrs. John Bayse, on East Reynolds Street. He was 60 years old. Death was due to a heart ailment. Mrs. Hubbard was stricken Thursday afternoon at the Earnest filling stations on South Van Buren Street and was taken next door to the office of Dr. R. S. Wishard for treatment. From there he was removed to the Bayse home. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Reese funeral home. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, with members of Dieterich Post 628 of the American Legion in charge of the military rites. Mr. Hubbard was born Nov. 19, 1890 near Noble in Richland County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Hubbard. He and his brother Audrine Hubbard had been living on the R. E. Drake farm south of Latona for the past 18 months. Mr. Hubbard was in the U.S. Army during World War I, his discharge showing service in the 41st DO., 11th Red. Bn., 162d Depot Brig., 33d Div. For years he was a member of Jasper Post No. 20 of the Legion in Newton, but in recent years he had held membership in the Dieterich post. He is survived only by his brother, Audrine. Another brother, Harold, and his parents preceded him in death.
