Obituary- "Patty Knight of Estes Park died at her home Monday September 13, 2011. She was 68 years old. Patricia Anne Knight was born July 9, 1943 in Little Washington, PA. Her parents were Woodrow and Patricia Knight.
She married Ron Schlotthauer of Eaton, CO and was married to him until 1980.
Patty worked for the U.S. Postal service for 22 years, starting her career in Pierce, CO while living in Greeley. It was in Greeley that she was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church. In 1993 she began working summers at the Post Office in Estes Park, then commuted to Estes Park to work full time for seven years before moving there in 2000. After 18 years in Estes Park she retired on July 31, 2011. A retirement party was held for her on August 27. Patty enjoyed all that Estes Park had to offer, seeing all the local plays and concerts and taking in A Tastes of Estes, The Scottish Festival and many other events. But her family was most important to her. She also enjoyed Bingo, long rides in the mountains and was a huge fan of John Wayne. She was happiest in Estes Park and felt that the community was a second family to her. She sent many greeting cards to many friends for many occasions.
Patty is survived by her son Ronny Schlotthauer of Estes Park; daughters Ronda Hubbard and her husband Brian of Estes Park and Paula Lara and her husband Chris Kennedy of Loveland, CO; brothers Woodrow Knight, Jr. and his wife Carla of Abilene, TX, Gary Knight and his wife Jane of Greeley and Keith Knight and his wife Nancy of Evergreen, CO; sisters Mary Brooks and her husband Del of Westminster, CO and Sharon Richard and her husband Cliff of Greeley. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and her ex-husband and friend Ron Schlotthauer of Eaton. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Anne “Nan” Forbush, her parents, a sister in law Lillie Knight and a grandson Tory. A celebration of Patty’s life will be held Monday September 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies in Estes Park. A reception will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date. The family will receive friends at Allnutt’s Estes Park Chapel on Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Caring Pregnancy Center of Estes Park in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517."
